David Walter Mills

Funeral services for David Walter Mills, 97, of Cairo, GA, are at 3:00 p.m., Friday, January 8, 2016, at the Cairo Church of God, Cairo, GA. Rev. DeWayne Atkinson and Rev. Dennis W. Foster will officiate. Interment will be in Pine Level Baptist Church Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mr. Mills passed away at his home in Cairo, GA, on Monday, January 4, 2016.

Active pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

Mr. Mills was born on January 17, 1918, in Cairo, GA, to the late Drew W. Mills and Leona Merritt Mills. He owned and operated his own trucking company. He was a member of the Cairo Church of God.

Survivors include: sons, David Lynn Mills of Whigham, GA, Charles Wesley Mills (Debbie) of Laughlin, NV; daughters, Linda Lou Cash (Ronald) of Corsicana, TX, Janice Marie Foster (Dennis) of Seaford, DE, Laura Wenzel of Whigham, GA; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Betty Lou Williams Mills; his daughter, Rita Jean Bonner; and three brothers, John Mills, Samuel Mills, Lloyd Mills.

Memorials may be made in Mr. Mills’ memory to the Cairo Church of God, 301 Pavilion Rd., Cairo, GA, 39828.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Thursday, January 7, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
