J L Lassister, 76, of Cairo, GA, passed away at his home in Grady County, GA on Monday, January 4, 2016. He will be interred in the Cairo Cemetery. No services are planned.

Mr. Lassister was born on March 25, 1939, in Grady County, GA, to the late Howard Lassister and Audrey Cox Lassister. On Oct. 5, 2012, he married Joyce Keller Lassister, who survives. He retired after working with a food delivery trucking service and also worked many years as an auto mechanic. He served his country in the U. S. Army and he was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include: wife, Joyce Keller Lassister of Cairo, GA; son, Thomas Lassister (Gabby) of Karlsruhe, Germany; daughters, Jennie Lawterbach of Karlsruhe, Germany, Patricia Lassister of Karlsruhe, Germany; step-daughter, Julie Turner (Doug) of Jacksonville, FL; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Sweat of Cairo, GA, Janell Schweitzer of Mansfield, MO, Jeannette Barrett of Cairo, GA, Betty Faye Scoggins of Abbeville, AL; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wives, Chris Lassister, Betty Lassister; and son, Jimmy Lassister.
