Carolyn Golden Maxwell

Carolyn Golden Maxwell, 83, of Cairo, GA, passed away at Grady General Hospital in Cairo, GA, on Thursday, April 21, 2016.

Mrs. Maxwell was born on October 31, 1932, in Valdosta, GA, to the late Delma O. Golden and Effie Hood Golden. She married Wilburn Maxwell in 1950, and they had four children. Mrs. Maxwell retired from Florida State Hospital. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include: daughters, Beth Fox of Cairo, GA, Susan Dobbins (David) of Tellico Plains, TN; sons, Terry Maxwell (Christina) of Sturgis, SD, Ned Maxwell (JoAnn) of Chattahoochee, FL; grandchildren, Erik Dobbins, Cheston Dobbins, Bonnie Tucker, Willie Maxwell; 7 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Carolyn had special relationships with several relatives including: Peggy Merritt, Billie and Jack Lewis, and John and Claudia Golden.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

There will be a private ceremony for the immediate family. Carolyn’s children will honor her final wishes by scattering her ashes at Newfound Gap in the Great Smoky Mountains. This place was special to her.
