Derle D. “Jim” Horner

Derle D. “Jim” Horner, 91, of Cairo, GA, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 30, 2016, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Rev. Whit Byram will officiate.
Active pallbearers will be Sonny Marshall, Freddie Lyle, Dick Porter, Jimmy Carter, Billy Walden, and Wayne Gilliard.
Mr. Horner was born on August 11, 1924, in Centerville, Iowa, to the late E.L. Horner and Olna Ruark Horner. On March 19, 1983, he married his beloved wife, Sue Giles Horner and they shared 33 years together. He was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include: his wife, Sue Giles Horner of Cairo, GA; sons and daughter-in-law, Wayne Horner of Tallahassee FL, Bob and Sheri Horner of Thomasville, GA; grandchildren, Matthew Horner of Thomasville, GA, Brennan Horner of Thomasville, GA; brother-in-law, James Giles (Gail) of Pace, FL; sister-in-law, Lynn Meek (Terry) of Tallahassee, FL; and a host of extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Hubert Horner.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Horner’s memory to the Thomasville Masonic Lodge, P. O. Box 785, Thomasville, GA, 31799.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
