Ruth Gainous Tinsley

Funeral services for Ruth Gainous Tinsley, 93, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at Eastside Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Danny Hendrix, Rev. Jim Weaver and Rev. Andrew Donaldson will officiate. Interment will be in Pine Level Church Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mrs. Tinsley passed away at Camellia Gardens of Life Care in Thomasville, GA, on Saturday, May 7, 2016.

Active pallbearers will be Terry Akridge, Carroll Akridge, Danny Tinsley, Donnie Tinsley, Willard Britt and Shelton Barfield. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Eastside Baptist Church.

Mrs. Tinsley was born on November 12, 1922, in Cairo, GA, to the late Harmon Gainous and Maggie Oates Gainous. In December of 1941, she married James Milton Tinsley, who preceded her in death on June 29, 1968. She retired from the W. B. Roddenbery Company. She was a devoted member of Eastside Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in her garden and tending to her roses. She was devoted to her family and known by all as “Granny Ruth.”

Survivors include: daughter, Beverly Womble (Donald) of Cairo, GA; granddaughters, Sheila Cape (Jeffrey) of Cairo, GA, Sherri Kesler (George) of Cairo, GA; great-grandchildren, Macey Kesler of Cairo, GA, Anna Kesler of Cairo, GA, Bryson Cape of Cairo, GA, Carrie Stanaland (Seth) of Cairo, GA, Georgia Hammond (Daniel) of Cairo, GA, great-great-grandchildren, Gabby Hammond of Cairo, GA, Brady Hammond of Cairo, GA, Annabelle Stanaland of Cairo, GA; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: parents; husband; grandson, Richard Allen Womble; brothers, Coy Gainous, Hill Gainous; and sisters, Foy Britt, Naomi Norton, Pawnee Harrington.

The family will receive friends at Eastside Baptist Church on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m, the funeral hour, in the sanctuary of the church.
