Funeral services for Betty Jean Harrison, 79, of Cairo, GA are at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at Magnolia Baptist Church, Whigham, GA. Rev. Don Prevatt, Rev. Johnny Burdick and Rev. John Werner will officiate. Interment will be in Magnolia Baptist Church Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Mrs. Harrison passed away on Friday, June 10, 2016, at Archbold Memorial Hospital, Thomasville, GA.
Active pallbearers are J.W. Hand, George Denison, Jr., Donnie Hand, Charlie Hand, Bobby Werner, Ronnie Werner, John Werner, Larry Harrison and Chris Harrison.
Mrs. Harrison was born on February 3, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Judson Colan Hand and Elizabeth Nagy Hand. She married Gene Harrison on July 27, 1951, and they shared 65 years together. Betty owned and operated with her husband Flooring Specialty of Cairo for 46 years before her retirement. She was a devoted member to Magnolia Baptist Church where she worked diligently through the WMU, Lottie Moon and Annie Armstrong. She was also responsible for four well projects through the Pure Water, Pure Love living wells.
Survivors include: her husband, Gene Harrison of Cairo, GA; her sons, Edward Harrison of Cairo, GA, Frank Harrison of Cairo, GA; daughter, Brenda Harrison Miller of Whigham, GA; grandchildren, Carissa Walker of Cairo, GA, Melissa Manzill of Vancouver Washington, Christy Bertrand of Zephyr Hills, FL, Shawn Harrison of Cairo, GA, Alexis Harrison of Cairo, GA, Mason Miller of Sugar Hill, GA, Austin Miller of Whigham, GA; great-grandchildren, Judson Harrison of Cairo, GA, Ayda Harrison of Cairo, GA, Lana Walker of Cairo, GA, Lilly Walker of Cairo, GA, Finley Walker of Cairo, GA; brothers, Walter Hand of Cairo, GA; sisters, Joann “Cookie” Denison and Claton, Sr. of Patterson, GA, Mary Margaret Werner and Bob of Whigham, GA.; a host of nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Betty Hazel Hand of Fort Gaines, GA.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; godchild, Judson W. Werner; brothers, Judson W. Hand, Charles C. Hand, W.L. “Butch” Hand; and a sister-in-law, Jody Hand.
