Barbara Jean Laing

Funeral services for Barbara Jean Laing, 72, of Whigham, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at the Cairo Church of God, Cairo, GA. Pastor DeWayne Atkinson will officiate. Services will conclude at the church. Private interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Mrs. Laing passed away at her home in Whigham, GA, on Saturday night, June 18, 2016.

Mrs. Laing was born on April 28, 1944, in Bainbridge, GA, to the late Robert Claude Callahan and Delila “Betty” Anderson. On June 19, 1959, she married Jimmie Laing, who survives. She was a homemaker and a member of the Cairo Church of God. Barbara’s favorite joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include: her husband of 57 years, Jimmie Laing of Whigham, GA; daughters, Cyndi Ferguson (Scott) of Cairo, GA, Liz Ponder (Greg) of Whigham; son, Tim Laing (Jacinda) of Albany, GA; grandchildren, Casey Ferguson, Luke Ferguson, Lindsey Ferguson, all of Cairo, GA, Taylor Ponder, Harley Ponder, both of Whigham, GA, Rev. Ivy Laing, Jamie Laing, both of Albany, GA; brother, Larry Callahan (Barbara) of Cairo, GA; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her father, Claude Callahan; mother Delila “Betty” Anderson; step-mother, Wynelle “Tince” Callahan; and step-father, Carlton Anderson.

The family will receive friends in the Life and Activities Center of the Cairo Church of God on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., the funeral hour.
