Willis Thompson “Tom” Snowden

Funeral services for Willis Thompson “Tom” Snowden, 73, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 22, 2016, at the Cairo Church of God, Cairo, GA. Pastor DeWayne Atkinson will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mr. Snowden passed away at Grady General Hospital in Cairo, GA, on Tuesday, October 18, 2016.
Active pallbearers will be John William Bass, Jr., Zane Mirick, Ryan Cook, Ricky Willis, Jamie McCorkle and Darrell Cliett. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Brinkley, Larry Chester, Jason Chester, and Rory Cook.
Mr. Snowden was born on November 1, 1942, in Hartford, CT, to the late Willis Snowden and Catherine Ada Pecor Fountain. Tom was raised by his step-father, the late Lawrence Fountain. On February 25, 1967, he married Annice “Louise” Stephens Snowden, who preceded him in death on August 22, 2013. He was maintenance director for Grady General Hospital and retired from Archbold Medical Center as Chief Engineer and Project Coordinator. He was a member of the Cairo Church of God.
Survivors include: sons, Matthew Snowden (Wanda) of Augusta, GA, Steven Snowden of Cairo, GA; grandchild, Morganlynn Snowden of Florida; step-granddaughter, Michelle Scott Ligon of Thompson, GA; step-great-grandchildren, Victoria Davis and Thomas Davis, both of Thompson, GA; brother, Allen Snowden (Lana) of Cairo, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father and his wife, Louise.
Memorials may be made in Mr. Snowden’s memory to the Cairo Church of God, 301 Pavillion Road, Cairo, GA 39828.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Friday, October 21, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
