Tillie Vickers Sikes

Graveside services for Tillie Vickers Sikes, 87, of Lakeland, FL, are at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 14, 2016, in Woodlawn Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Mrs. Sikes passed away at Solaris Healthcare, Plant City, FL, on Tuesday, November 8, 2016.

Mrs. Sikes was born on March 12, 1929, in Grady County, GA, to the late W. P. Vickers and Beulah Knight Vickers. Tillie grew up in Whigham, GA, and was a graduate of Whigham High School. She attended Perry Business School in Albany, GA, where she met her future husband, Willie M. “Bill” Sikes. She and her loving husband were married 59 years. In 1961 she and Bill moved their family from Whigham, GA, to Lakeland, FL. Tillie worked in the accounting profession for various companies in the Lakeland area until her retirement in 1989. She was a member of New Home Baptist Church.

Survivors include: son, Gary Sikes of Lakeland, FL; daughters, Sherry Sikes Carver of Lakeland, FL, Kathy Sikes Saville of Naples, FL; grandchildren, Sarah Sikes and Hali Sikes, both of Lakeland, FL, Zachary Fulp and Isabella Lepore, both of Naples, FL, Garrett Lord of Tampa, FL; and a great-grandson Gunner of Lakeland, FL.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Willie M. “Bill” Sikes, on December 30, 2007; and a sister, Mildred Vickers.
