Funeral services for Lorene Barrett Booth, 93, of Whigham, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 13, 2016, at Springhill United Methodist Church, Whigham, GA. Rev. Christy Bandy will officiate. Interment will be in Springhill United Methodist Church Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Mrs. Booth passed away at Magnolia Place of Cairo, GA, on Friday morning, November 11, 2016.
Active pallbearers will be her grandsons and her grandsons-in-law.
Mrs. Booth was born on September 7, 1923, in Cairo, GA, to the late Oscar B. Barrett and Elizabeth Dollar Barrett. On October 30, 1943, she married Warren Gwinn Booth, who preceded her in death on August 9, 1996. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent many hours on crafts which she shared with many people. She became known as “Nanny Boo” by everyone after her great-grandchildren started to arrive. The family is grateful to the staff and caregivers of Magnolia Place for their love and support given to “Nanny Boo”. Lorene was a member of the Springhill UMW and a devoted member of Springhill United Methodist Church, Whigham, GA.
Survivors include: her daughters, Jane Walden (Billy) of Cairo, GA, Peggy Wheeler of Whigham, GA, Elizabeth Walden (Dwain) of Moultrie, GA; grandchildren, Jamie Walden (Tonya) of Atlanta, GA, Jill Long (John) of Cairo, GA, Lori Mealor (Andy) of Macon, GA, Chad Walden (Elizabeth) of Bainbridge, GA; and great-grandchildren, Samantha Walden, Cooper Walden, both of Atlanta, GA, Lauren Mobley, Leigh Mobley, Lydia Mobley, Jae Long, all of Cairo, GA, Lillie Mealor, Lola Mealor, both of Macon, GA.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; grandson, Kevin Walden; son-in-law, Aris Wheeler; brothers, Alvie Barrett, Forcie Barrett, Clyde Barrett, James Madison “J. M” Barrett; and sisters, Maude Wadsworth, Little Mae McAlvin.

The family will receive friends at Springhill United Methodist Church on Sunday, November 13, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., the funeral hour.
