Roger Wendell “Ben” Lacy

Roger Wendell “Ben” Lacy, 77, of Whigham, GA, passed away at Grady General Hospital in Cairo, GA, on Tuesday night, January 24, 2017. No services are planned at this time.

Mr. Lacy was born on December 28, 1939, in Cairo, GA, to the late John C. Lacy and Lillie Whitfield Lacy. He served his country in the United States Air Force. On December 18, 1971, he married Joan Crosby Lacy, who survives. He retired from a lifetime in the timber industry as a sawyer with Lacy Lumber Company, Inc. He was of the Southern Baptist faith.

Survivors include: his wife of 45 years, Joan Crosby Lacy of Whigham, GA; sons, Lamar Keith Lacy (Alicia) of Cairo, GA, Clay Lacy, Sr. of Madison, FL; daughter, Wendy Lacy Wolff of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Kenan and Ansley Lacy, both of Cairo, GA; Amanda and Clay, Lacy, Jr., both of Valdosta, GA, Morgan Lacy of Tallahassee, FL, Audrey Wolff of Atlanta, GA; sister, Sylvia Lacy Johnson; and a sister-in-law, Linda Lacy.

He was preceded in death by: his parents and a brother, Doug Lacy.
