Memorial services for Benjamin Allen “Benny” Barrett, Sr., 58, of Cairo, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 2, 2017, at the Rose City Church of God, Thomasville, GA. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA, with Military Honors. Rev. Gerald Horne and Bishop James Butler will officiate. Mr. Barrett passed away at Archbold Memorial Hospital, Thomasville, GA, on Wednesday, March 29, 2017.
Mr. Barrett was born on May 4, 1958, in Cairo, GA, to Howard Benjamin Barrett, Jr., and Judy Gainous Barrett, who survive. Mr. Barrett served his country in the United States Navy for 21 years until his retirement. He was a mechanic with Grady County. He was married to Cynthia Smith Barrett, who survives, and a member of Rose City Church of God.
Survivors include: his wife, Cynthia Barrett of Cairo, GA; daughter, Krista Candelaria (Nestor) of Cairo, GA; son, Allen Barrett (Candace) of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Kenzlea Candelaria of Cairo, GA, Eli Candelaria of Cairo, GA, Kaylee Barrett of Cairo, GA; parents, Jr. Barrett and Judy Barrett both of Cairo, GA; sisters, Sharon Ward (Dennis) of Cairo, GA, Karon Salter (Garry) of Cairo, GA; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Curtis and Betty Smith; and a grandson, Max Candelaria.
