James W. “Jimmy” Poppell

Funeral services for James W. “Jimmy” Poppell, 56, of Whigham, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 28, 2017, at Union Springs Baptist Church, Whigham, GA. Pastor Steve Poppell and Pastor Chad Cooper will officiate. Interment will be in Union Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Mr. Poppell passed away at his home in Whigham, GA, on Saturday, April 22, 2017.

Active pallbearers will be Jerry Wayne Baggett, Spencer Duncan, Glen Mobley, Dennis Poppell, Jeff Brinson and Gary Williams.

Mr. Poppell was born on December 14, 1960, in Bainbridge, GA, to the late W. C. Poppell and Joyce Lindsay Poppell. On February 23, 1979, he married Bonnie Clark Poppell, who survives. He was self-employed in trucking.

Survivors include: his wife of 38 years, Bonnie Clark Poppell of Whigham, GA; a daughter, Deven Killough (Ben) of Albany, GA; grandchildren, Nolan Killough, Avery Killough, both of Albany, GA, Mary Claire Killough of Bainbridge, GA; brothers, Gary Poppell (Martha) of Whigham, GA, Steve Poppell (Tracy) of Whigham, GA, Glenn Poppell of Thomasville, GA; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be made in Mr. Poppell’s memory to: Union Springs Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 355 Union Springs Road, Whigham, GA 39897.

The family will receive friends at the home of Steve and Tracy Poppell on Thursday, April 27, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
