James Royce “Jimmy” Lewis

Funeral services for James Royce “Jimmy” Lewis, 74, of Cairo, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 22, 2017, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Rev. Ron McCaskill will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mr. Lewis passed away at his home in Grady County, GA, on Monday, June 19, 2017.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bryan Lewis and Jay Lewis.
Mr. Lewis was born on July 13, 1942, in Jacksonville, FL, to the late Yancey Bryan Lewis and Delilah Irene Lane Lewis. He served his country in the United States Air Force. On December 22, 1960, he married Jane Lord Lewis, who survives. He was a retired construction supervisor with Bates Engineers/Contractors in Bainbridge, GA. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church and the American Legion. Jimmy enjoyed wood working and making things for his friends and family. He loved fishing and family get togethers talking and standing around the fire pit.
Survivors include: his wife of 56 years, Jane Lord Lewis of Cairo, GA; sons, Jamie Lewis (Becky) of Cairo, GA, Jeffery Lewis (Steffie) of Biloxi, MS; grandchildren, Bryan Lewis of Cairo, GA, Haylee Lewis Hobbs (David) of Thomasville, GA, Jay Lewis (Kayla) of Warner Robins, GA, Stacey Lewis of Biloxi, MS; great-grandchildren, Melody Hobbs, Charlee Hobbs, both of Thomasville, GA; brother, Walter Lewis of Cairo, GA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gail Lewis, Howard Allan and Neavis Lord of Bakersfield, CA.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; sons, James Royce Lewis, II, Royce Dean Lewis; granddaughter, Harmony Hobbs; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie Lewis, Judy Hopkins Lewis.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
