Funeral services for Clyde Barnes, Jr., 81, of Cairo, GA, are at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, July 15, 2017, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Elder James R. Smith, Elder Walter Todd and Elder Jason Sellars will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mr. Barnes passed away at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, GA, on Wednesday, July 12, 2017.
Active pallbearers will be Christpher Harry, Jr. Hawthorne, Dr. David Saint, Sam Kines, Jeff Godwin, PaPa D. DeLaney and Ken Harper. Honorary pallbearers will be Mizpah Primitive Baptist Church Deacons.
Mr. Barnes was born on September 23, 1935, in Thomasville, GA, to the late Clyde Barnes Sr. and Inez Myrick Barnes. On September 4, 1955, he married Margie Sellars Barnes, who survives. He served his country in the National Guard. He was the owner of the Downtowner Restaurant in Cairo. He also retired from Publix Super Markets, Inc. Clyde’s favorite hobbies were working in his yard, going fishing, cooking and spending time with his loving wife and family.
Survivors include: his wife of 61 years, Margie Sellars Barnes of Cairo, GA; daughters, Hazel Hester (Max) of Thomasville, GA, Linda Martin (Tommy) of Ellijay, GA, Dyna Wilson of Thomasville, GA, Inez Attardi (John) of Bradenton, FL; grandchildren, Shad Martin (Donna) of Americus, GA, Misty Harry of Madison, FL, Tyler Wilson of Thomasville, GA, April Hester of Tifton, GA, Dana Alderman (Kevin) of Moultrie, GA, T.K. Martin (Karen) of Ellijay, GA, Tristen Attardi of Bradenton, FL, Pamala Sewell (Scrapper) of Ellijay, GA, Marina Attardi of Bradenton, FL, Brittany Brinkley of Thomasville, GA; great-grandchildren, Christpher Harry of Thomasville, GA, McKenzie Hyde of Ellijay, GA, Mason Brinkley of Thomasville, GA; and a nephew, Brad Barnes (Valerie) of Cairo, GA.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; a sister, Ann Arron; and a brother, Jerry Barnes.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Friday, July 14, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
