Funeral services for Edwin Douglas “Bob” Maxwell, 74, of Whigham, GA, are at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 24, 2017, at Climax Baptist Church, Climax, GA. Pastor Steve Poppell and Pastor Graham Bell will officiate. Interment will be in the Maxwell Hill Cemetery. Mr. Maxwell passed away at his home in Decatur County, GA, on Thursday, September 21, 2017.
Active pallbearers will be Tyler Shook, Cole Shook, Landon Toole, Nick Patrick, Paul Maxwell, Mark Maxwell, Tim Maxwell and Murry Maxwell. Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Harrison, Ike Maxwell, Billy Maxwell, Chris Harrell, Cuy Harrell IV, Johnny Knight, Jason Knight, Chance Scott, Richard Maxwell, Justin Maxwell, Stephen VanLandingham, John Maxwell and Stephen Maxwell.
Mr. Maxwell was born on January 17, 1943, in Bainbridge, GA, to the late Mather Marvin Maxwell and Edrie Georgiann Perkins Maxwell. He served his country in the United States Army. On Sept 15, 1968, he married Evelyn Bell Maxwell, who survives. Bob was a lifetime farmer and managed the peanut mill in Climax. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a charter member of the New Fountainhead Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife of 49 years, Evelyn Bell Maxwell of Whigham, GA; daughters, Dawn Shook (Kenny) of Winder, GA, Gina Mathis (Chadd) of Valdosta, GA, Amy Toole of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Tyler Shook (Danielle), Caitlin Patrick (Nick), Cole Shook (Sydney), all of Winder, GA, Madeline Mathis of Statesboro, GA, Bryanne Mathis, Ali Reese Mathis, both of Valdosta, GA, Landon Toole, Emma Grace Toole, both of Cairo, GA; great-grandchildren, Isla Patrick, Raelynn Shook, Tilly Patrick, all of Winder, GA; sister: Ann Maxwell Harrell (Cuy) of Whigham, GA; brothers, William H. “Billy” Maxwell (Vanita) of Climax, GA, Steve Maxwell (Susan) of Whigham, GA; sisters-in-law, Dianne Maxwell of Whigham, GA, Dorothy Maxwell of Cairo, GA, Susan Darley Maxwell of Whigham, GA and Martha W. Maxwell of Whigham, GA; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Ellen Maxwell Strickland; brothers, Joe Maxwell, Jack Maxwell, Wayne Maxwell, Franklin Maxwell, Chub Maxwell, Buck Maxwell and Tom Maxwell; and nephews, David Maxwell and Joey Maxwell.

The family will receive friends at Bob and Evelyn’s home on Saturday, September 23, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
