Memorial services for Jeannette Margaret Teate, 83, of Cairo, GA, are at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 18, 2017, at the Cairo Church of Christ. Rev. Dale Cooper will officiate. Services will conclude at the church.

On Saturday, November 4th, 2017, Jeannette Miller Teate went to join her family and the Good Lord in Heaven. “Jan” was born in Cairo, GA on February 2, 1934, as the youngest child and only daughter to the late Ida Johnson Miller and James Lee Miller. She was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. A faithful member of the Church of Christ, she attended the San Gabriel Church of Christ in San Gabriel, CA (1980-1997), Lakeshore Church of Christ in Jacksonville, FL (1998-2001), and the Cairo Church of Christ (2002-2017). There, she loved to sing the old hymns of her faith, which brought her joy and peace.

Survivors include: daughter, Debra Perkins Welch of Cairo, GA; sons, Ronald Perkins, Jr. (Rhonda) of Steelville, MO, Craig Perkins of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Melissa Wade of Farmington, MO, Ronald Anthony Perkins of Steelville, MO, Michelle Birney of South Pasadena, CA, Mark Bishop (Emily) of Quincy, FL; great-grandchildren, Abigail Perkins of Farmington, MO, Mateo Birney of South Pasadena, CA, Lilly Bishop of Quincy, FL, Katelin Bishop of Quincy, FL; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her loving husband, Wamon “Smokey” Teate; and seven brothers.

Memorials may be made in Mrs. Teate’s memory to: Raintree Village Children’s Home, 3757 Johnston Road, Valdosta, GA 31601.

The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service at the church.
