Funeral services for John Thomas “J.T.” Butler, Jr., 92, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, January 13, 2018, at the Gordon Heights Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Al Sessions, Rev. Rod Brinkley and Rev. Jim Weaver will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mr. Butler passed away at Camellia Gardens of Life Care, in Thomasville, GA, on Tuesday afternoon, January 9, 2018.
Active pallbearers will be his grandsons, Ron Harrison, Matthew Ferguson, Brice Edwards, Bradley Jones, Kolby Jones, Cole Harrison and Zach Harrison. Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn French, W.A. Harrell, Rayford Harrell, Ronnie Harrell, Chris Greene, Greg Butler, Terry Collins, Randy Smith, Chad Butler, Shawn Butler, Jason Butler, Steven Butler, Richard Bell, Larry Higdon, Jet Cox and Johnny Mack Butler.
Mr. Butler was born on December 20, 1925, in Thomas County, GA, to the late John Thomas Butler, Sr. and Vera Parks Butler. He was the owner and operator of Butler Furniture Company and Butler Lawn Service. In 1957, he became a charter member of Gordon Heights Baptist Church in Cairo.
Survivors include: his children, Brenda Harrison (David) of Cairo, GA, Jane Cliett (Danny) of Cairo, GA, Sylvia Ferguson (Terry) of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Dana Moore (Darren) of Cairo, GA, Ron Harrison (Greta) of Cairo, GA, Sherrie Jones (Heath) of Whigham, GA, Heather Womble (John Johnson) of Cairo, GA, Matthew Ferguson of Cairo, GA; great-grandchildren, Bradley Jones (Hope) of Whigham, GA, Brice Edwards (Bailey) of Cairo, GA, Lacey Moore Clark (Hunter) of Norman Park, GA, Cole Harrison of Cairo, GA, Kolby Jones of Whigham, GA, Zach Harrison of Cairo, GA, Dara Moore of Cairo, GA, Brandon “Ace” Womble of Cairo, GA, Marleigh Grace Womble of Cairo, GA, Jordyn Johnson of Cairo, GA; great-great-grandchildren, Berklin Edwards, Beckham Edwards, both of Cairo, GA; brothers and sisters, Maggie Collins of Cairo, GA, Merle Cummings of Brooksville, FL, Leland Butler (Beth) of Cairo, GA, Blanche Kobie (Gene) of Camilla, GA, James Butler (Dot) of Warner Robins, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; grandson, Brandon Cliett; mother of his children, Dorothy Horton Butler; sisters, Marie Harrell, Beatrice Smith, Betty Smith, Sara French, Esther Mae Poole, Lula Lee Green; and brothers, Joe Bernard Butler, Thomas Butler.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Friday, January 12, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
