Funeral services for Phillip G. Merritt, 56, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Rev. Eric Mitchell will officiate. Interment will be in Magnolia Baptist Church Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Mr. Merritt passed away at his home in Cairo, GA, on Saturday, March 24, 2018.
Active pallbearers will be Nick Trull, Mike Avery, Darrell Griffin, Christian Griffin, Bryan Griffin, Cameron Willis, Christian Willis, Kevin Royal and Levi Crawford.
Mr. Merritt was born on January 30, 1962, in Cairo, GA, to the late Roy Albert Merritt and Willie Mae Wimberly Merritt. He worked in construction. Phillip loved to play his guitar and spend time with his family.
Survivors include: daughter, Candace Barrett (Allen) of Pelham, GA; granddaughter, Kaylee Barrett of Pelham, GA; brother, Randy Merritt (Sylvia) of Cairo, GA; sisters, Margie Brownlow (Warren) of Cairo, GA, Gail Lee (Roger) of Cairo, GA, Shirley Smith (Donnie) of Cairo, GA, Helen Chancey of Cairo, GA, Lynn Dickerson (Daniel) of Ochlocknee, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; sisters, Martha Johnson, Inez Merritt, Janice McKown, Rita Merritt; and brothers, Steve Merritt, James Merritt, Gene Merritt.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Monday, March 26, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
