Funeral services for Sally Lindsey Miller, 87, of Cairo, GA, are at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 16, 2018, at the First United Methodist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Christy Bandy will officiate. Interment will be in Springhill Christian Church Cemetery, Ochlocknee, GA. Mrs. Miller passed away at her home in Cairo, GA, on Thursday, September 13, 2018.
Active pallbearers will be James Jenkins, Rusty Jenkins, Mike Lindsey, James Ridley, Gwen Ridley and James Ronnie Jenkins.
Mrs. Miller was born on October 20, 1930, in Brooks County, GA, to the late William Gordon Lindsey and Sadie Sellers Lindsey. On January 3, 1948, she married Edward LaVerne Miller, who preceded her in death on September 19, 2011. They were married for 63 years. She was a banker with Capital City Bank in Cairo for over 30 years. Sally was a member of the Pilot Club, Cairo Woman’s Club, Rotary Club and the Eastern Star. She was the recipient of the Grady County Woman of the Year in 1994. Mrs. Miller was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Joan Miller of Cairo, GA, Chris and Violet Miller of Pelham, GA; grandchildren and spouses, Shawn and Beverly Miller of Pelham, GA, Kim Miller Joyner of Cairo, GA, Mason Miller and Amanda Parker of Pelham, GA, Sabrina and Ken Morey of Cairo, GA, Joseph Sellers of Cairo, GA, Matt and Jill Spears of Carrolton, GA; great-grandchildren, Hayden Miller, Tripp Joyner, Camden Miller, Ethan Morey, Briana Morey, Olivvia Spears, Bowden Spears and Johnny Spears; sisters, Minnie Ruth Jenkins (Ronnie) of Cairo, GA, Nan Crawford (Travis) of Cairo, GA; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Walden of Cairo, GA and Marie Ansley of Cairo, GA; a host of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; daughter, Connie Hester; granddaughter, Kristi Miller; great-grandson, Gavin Miller; sisters, Beatrice Ridley, Margaret Bailey; and brothers, Bill Lindsey, John Lindsey.
Memorials may be made in Mrs. Miller’s memory to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
The family will receive friends at the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church on Sunday, September 16, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
