Jimmy Lloyd Brookins and Mildred Strickland Brookins

The children of Jimmy Lloyd and Mildred Strickland Brookins will gather for a brief graveside memorial service and interment at Pine Park Baptist Cemetery, 3783 Pine Park Road, Cairo, Georgia, on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at 11:00 a.m.

Jimmy and Mildred were married in April of 1954 and were married for 57 years at the time of her death on April 9, 2011. Jimmy joined her in eternity on June 15, 2018.

They were blessed with three children: Bari Brookins (John Buchanan) of Bryan, Texas; Bart (Kathy) Brookins of Birmingham, Alabama; and Brian (Beth) Brookins of Coral Springs, Florida. In addition, they were the proud grandparents of twelve: Shawn Buchanan, Jarred (Sarah) Brookins, Adam Brookins, Caleb B. Brookins, AnnElise Brookins, Olivia Brookins, Daniel Brookins, Joshua Brookins, SarahAnne Jackson (Chase), Caleb K. Brookins, Jacob Brookins, and David Brookins; and one great-grandchild: Leo Brookins. They are survived by Mildred’s sister and brother-in-law, Garrett Alfred and Laura Sue Hays of North Carolina, and Jimmy’s sisters, Iris Launa Brookins of Dunedin, Florida and Linda Wells of Cairo, Georgia, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends across the world.
