Funeral services for Audrey Godwin Hawthorne, 67, of Whigham, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 8, 2019, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Rev. Robert Crapps will officiate. Private interment will be in Hawthorne Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mrs. Hawthorne passed away at her home in Whigham, GA, on Wednesday, February 6, 2019.

Mrs. Hawthorne was born on August 16, 1951, in Climax, GA, to the late Charlie Clowers Godwin and Essie Mae Ritter Godwin. On June 19, 1970, she married William Berl Hawthorne, who survives. She was the owner-operator of Audrey’s Kuntry Kitchen. Audrey was a school bus driver for the Grady County Board of Education for 30 years. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Whigham.

Survivors include: her husband of 48 years, Berl Hawthorne of Whigham, GA; daughter, Tonya Welch (Blane) of Cairo, GA; son, Travis Hawthorne (Kelly) of Whigham, GA; grandchildren, Cali Schafer of Cairo, GA, Rhyn Schafer of Cairo, GA, Hank Hawthorne of Whigham, GA, JW Hawthorne of Whigham, GA; sister, Gloria Gean Hawthorn of Harlem, GA; brothers, Buford Godwin of Thomasville, GA, William Godwin of Cairo, GA, Johnny Godwin of Thomasville, GA; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; an infant twin sister; and a brother, Clowers Godwin, Jr.
