Bobby Joe Knight

Funeral services for Bobby Joe Knight, 82, of Whigham, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 12, 2019, at Union Springs Baptist Church, Whigham, GA. Rev. James Knight will officiate. Interment will be in Union Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Mr. Knight passed away at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Albany, GA, on Thursday, October 10, 2019.

Active pallbearers will be L. E. Knight, Joe Knight, Robby Knight, Mitch Knight, Jason Knight and Johnny Knight. Honorary pallbearers will be Jet Cox, Jimmy Cox, Billy Lee, Ashley Medders, Carey Bishop, Guy Slappey, and members of the Whigham High School class of 1955.

Mr. Knight was born on September 17, 1937, in Grady County, GA, to the late Joe Elbert Knight and Mattie Lou Poppell Knight. On August 18, 1972, he married Angela Copeland Knight, who preceded him in death on July 1, 2016. He graduated from Whigham High School in 1955. He retired from CSX Railroad. He was a Mason for nearly fifty years in Grady County. Mr. Knight was an active member of Union Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include: daughters, Donna Lynn Knight of Whigham, GA, Lorie Knight Barrow (Mike) of Whigham, GA; son, Joey Knight of Whigham, GA; granddaughter, Mallorie Elaine Barrow of Whigham, GA; sister-in-law, Jean Knight of Whigham, GA; brother-in-law, Randall Copeland of Allentown, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Angela Copeland Knight; sister, Margaret Long; brothers, Lewis Knight and Donald Knight.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour of 11:00 a.m. at Union Springs Baptist Church, Whigham, GA, on Saturday, October 12, 2019.
