James Jackson “Jimmy” Godwin

James Jackson “Jimmy” Godwin, 77, of Cairo, GA, passed away at his home in Cairo, GA, on Wednesday, May 27, 2020. The family will have a memorial service for friends and family at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 30, 2020, at the Connection Assembly, Thomasville, GA. Rev. Jason Puckett will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the service time.
Mr. Godwin was born on August 14, 1942, in Bainbridge, GA, to the late Willie Garrett Godwin and Addie Mae Hutto Godwin. On March 14, 1962, he married Dianne Maxwell Godwin, who survives. They were married for over 58 years. He was a self-employed contractor and well known for his quality skills and workmanship. He enjoyed building homes for families. Jimmy loved fishing, gardening, and spending time with family. He was a Christian and devoted member of the Connection Assembly in Thomasville, GA.
Survivors include: his wife, Dianne Godwin of Cairo, GA; children, Tammy Godwin Deemer (John) of Coconut Creek, FL, Glenn Godwin (Joy) of Cairo, GA, Billy Godwin (Robin) of Cairo, GA, Patricia Godwin Moore of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Heather Ciaccio Shampaner (Danny) of Coral Springs, FL, Angela Ciaccio Chunn (Josh) of Tallahassee, FL, Ashley Godwin Helms (Chris) of Cairo, GA, Josh Godwin of Cairo, GA, Tiffany Godwin Miller (Carson) of Cairo, GA, Bryce Godwin of Cairo, GA, Stephen Godwin of Cairo, GA; great-grandchildren, Jacob Chunn, Lucas Chunn, both of Tallahassee, FL, Katelynn Chunn of Lufkin, TX, Emma Shampaner of Coral Springs, FL, Jade Helms, CJ Helms, Harper Helms, all of Cairo, GA; brother, Calvin Godwin (Carolyn) of Cairo, GA; sister, Lou Godwin Salter (Nathan) of Bainbridge, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Shelley Godwin Daley; and a son-in-law, Lester Jay Moore.
