William Thomas “Bill” Maxwell
February 16, 1939 – July 8, 2020
William Thomas “Bill” Maxwell, age 81, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2020, after a brief illness at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Born on February 16,1939 to the late Kyle and Elvie Maxwell, Bill was the oldest of 4 children. He attended school in Grady County and graduated from Cairo High School in 1957. He later attended Florida State University and joined the US NAVY. After serving, Bill moved to Atlanta and worked 30 years with the Bankhead Group as a payroll clerk. After retiring, he returned to the family farm. He was a lifetime member of the Baptist faith. Bill loved to travel and work outside in his yard. He was beloved by all who had the chance to know him.
Bill is survived by: a sister, Ann Gregory of Calvary, GA; a brother, Bob Maxwell of Calvary, GA; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends, Ellen Simmons of Atlanta, GA and Louis Meinhardt of Port St Joe, FL. He leaves behind his beloved dog, Buster.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Kyle and Elvie Maxwell; brother, Hanson “Buddy” Maxwell; sister-in-law, Jeanette Maxwell; and nephew, Robert Maxwell.
