Robert Charles “Bob” Doughty
August 1, 1946 – December 23, 2020
Robert Charles “Bob” Doughty passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 23, 2020. The family will have a memorial service at a later time.
Mr. Doughty was the firstborn son of William S. and Margaret Bell Doughty of Daytona Beach, FL. He served in the United States Air Force in Electronic Intercept Ops before graduating from Florida State University in 1973 where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He later began his family and career in Thomasville, GA where he actively served his state and community in several civic organizations including the Thomasville Jaycees, Leadership Eighty’s, The Exchange Club, and President of the Independent Insurance Agents of Georgia. He was also a dedicated member of the Seminole Boosters for many years enjoying any and all FSU sports.
Mr. Doughty was the owner of the Cox Insurance Agency in Cairo, GA. Bob enjoyed hobbies including reading, fishing and spending time with his beloved grandchildren.
He is survived by: his son, Brian Edward Doughty (Lesley) of Thomasville, GA; his daughter, Katherine Doughty Bannister (Cleburn) of Thomasville, GA; 6 grandchildren, Brianna Doughty, Madison Doughty, Katelyn Doughty, William Doughty, Cleburn “Beau” Bannister, IV, and Sadie Bannister, all of Thomasville, GA; and 4 younger siblings, Clifford Doughty (Rose) of Welaka, FL, Ginger Rogers (Cato) of Fernandina Beach, FL, Cindy Lanzer of Pomona Park, FL, and Mark Doughty of Welaka, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Anne Grace Bannister.
