Graveside funeral services for Velma Joyner Singletary, 84, of Cairo, GA, are on Thursday, December 31, 2020, in Providence Community Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Bro. Bryan Gainous will officiate. Mrs. Singletary passed away at Glenn-Mor Nursing Home in Thomasville, GA, on Monday, December 28, 2020.
Mrs. Singletary was born on March 28, 1936, in Cairo, GA, to the late Floyd Joyner and Mildred Andrews Joyner. On January 23, 1954, she married William Lawrence “Bill” Singletary, who preceded her in death on August 11, 1996. She was an inspector at the Torrington Company until her retirement. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Whigham.
Survivors include: sons, Mike Singletary (Judy) of Cairo, GA, Ricky Singletary (Debra) of Cairo, GA, Gary Singletary (Donna) of Tallahassee, FL; daughter, Debora Trawick of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Joanne, Eric, David, Sara, William, Annie, Robbie, Alice, Jennifer, Nick, Angie, Shawn, Melanie, Chris, Leslie, Kyle, Lisa, Mike, Gennie, Brad, Robin, Wayne, Cindy, Brandon, Heather, Natalie, Nick, Austin, Lexi; 26 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, her twin sister, Eleanor Harper, Bettye Carlton, Tommy Joyner, Virgil Joyner, Linda Parker, Lisa Joyner, Stevie Joyner; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; son, William Allen “Billy” Singletary; son-in-law, Gene Trawick; grandson, Chris Trawick; and her siblings, Bernard Joyner, Frances Ezell, Donald Joyner, Wendell Joyner.
