Funeral services for Sylvia Jean Pollock, 80, of Long Beach, MS, formerly of Cairo, GA, are on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo. GA. Pastor DeWayne Atkinson will officiate. Ms. Pollock passed away at Lakeview Nursing Center in Gulfport, MS, on January 16, 2021.
Ms. Pollock was born on December 29, 1940, in Cairo, GA, to the late Archie Brinson and Virginia Wright Brinson Palmer. She was a faithful member of the Cairo Church of God. She was a devout Christian and loved her Lord and Savior with all her heart. She took every opportunity to witness for Jesus of his love, mercy and grace. Sylvia was a devoted mother and nanny that loved her family so much. The loss is enormous, and she will be greatly missed by so many.
Survivors include: her daughter, Christal Rowell (Shane) of Long Beach, MS; grandchildren, Austin Rowell of Starkville, MS, Madison Rowell of Starkville, MS; brothers, Wendell Brinson (Donnis) of Donalsonville, GA, Larry Brinson of Pelham, GA; sister, Faye West of Cairo, GA; sisters-in-law, Hazel Brinson of Douglas, GA, Janice Brinson of Donalsonville, GA, Bonnie Brinson of Crawfordville, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by: father, Archie Brinson; mother, Virginia Brinson Palmer; stepfather, Clifford Palmer; daughter, Dondra K. Pollock; and brothers, Bobby Brinson, Jimmy Brinson, Jerry Brinson.
