James Samuel Thomaston

Graveside funeral services for James Samuel Thomaston, of Cairo, GA, who went to his eternal home with Jesus on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, will be held on Friday, January 29, 2021, in Banks Cemetery, Pelham, GA. The graveside service will be officiated by Rev. Daniel Copeland with Military Honors being presented.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Blaylock, Roy Copeland, Kelvin Harrell, Billy Hopkins, James Hughes, Eric Mitchell, Larry Odum, Tony Plymel, and Robert Thursby.
Mr. Thomaston was born on April 11, 1946, in Hogansville, GA, to the late James Walter Thomaston and Cora Jane Nobles Thomaston. After he served his country in the United States Air Force, he worked for 30 years as an Electrical Engineer in the field of High Energy Nuclear Physics at Florida State University.
He was a member of Victory Fellowship Church in Thomasville, GA. His greatest loves were Jesus and his family. May 15th would mark 45 years of marriage to the love of his life, Staffie. She was his greatest treasure, along with his children and grandchildren, who gave him the utmost joy.
Survivors include: Wife, Staffie Turner Thomaston of Cairo, GA; children, Kendra T. Lynch (Jonathan) of Cairo, GA, Elizabeth T. Pulcifer (Aaron) of Warner Robins, GA, James W. “Jim” Thomaston (Shannon) of Augusta, GA; grandchildren, Hannah, Caleb, Seth, Sarah, Julia, Micah, Josiah, Cora, Isaiah, Eliana, Isaac; sister, Mildred Knighton of Cairo, GA; brother, Gene Thomaston of Thomasville, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Walt Thomaston; sisters, Helen Williams, Evy Finch and Fay Kirkland.
