David Lawrence Floore

Funeral services for David Lawrence Floore, 37, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at the First United Methodist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Ron McCaskill and Rev. Christy Bandy will officiate. The services will conclude in the church. The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary immediately following the service. Private interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Cairo, GA. David passed away in Weston, CO, on Thursday, July 29, 2021.
David was born on July 12, 1984 in Cairo, GA to Dr. Stephen L. Floore and Diane Myatt Floore. He was baptized in the First United Methodist Church of Cairo, GA. A 2003 graduate of Cairo High School, he played short stop for the Baseball team and played trumpet in the CHS Syrupmaker Band. He received an Associate’s degree from Bainbridge State College and was a 2021 Honor Graduate of the McDougall School of Petroleum Engineering at the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma. While at Tulsa, he was President of the Tulsa Midstream Club. He was also a member of the American Society of Petroleum Engineers.
Most recently, David was employed by Evergreen Natural Resources in Trinidad, CO. Tasked with creating the first digital map of a multitude of uncharted mountain trails and passes; he was commended for his outstanding work and well-liked by his colleagues.
He enjoyed music, fishing and hunting and loved the outdoors. He also had a keen interest in restoring antique cars. Possessing a kind and generous heart, friends and family were touched by his sweet nature.
Survivors include his parents, Dr. Stephen and Diane Floore; brother Dr. John B. Floore of Cairo, GA; maternal grandmother Jo Ann Myatt of Nunnelly, TN; uncles Larry K. Myatt (Wanda) of Bon Aqua, TN and Paul Eichorn of Richmond, VA; aunt Teresa Myatt Gregory (Stephen) of Centerville, TN.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Edgar Lawrence Floore and Frances Hargis Floore of Fort Worth, TX; maternal grandfather Kenneth William Myatt of Nunnelly, TN; aunt Ellen Floore Eichorn of Tallahassee, FL.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the David L. Floore Engineering Scholarship Fund, P. O. Box 179, Cairo, GA 39828. The fund will be used for Cairo High School students.
