Cynthia Knight Vickers
April 21, 1957 – December 31, 2021

Cynthia Knight Vickers, 64 years, of Whigham, GA passed away peacefully on Friday, December 31, 2021.  Services for Cynthia are at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Union Springs Baptist Church, Whigham, GA.  Interment will follow.  Rev. James Knight will officiate.  The family will receive friends at the Fellowship Hall of Union Springs Baptist Church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m until 11:00 a.m.

Active pallbearers will be Mark Baggett, Richard Pearce, Richard Gordon, Mark Childree, Stanley Elkins, and Dixon Harrison.

Mrs. Vickers was born in Grady County on Easter morning, April 21, 1957 to Melvin Knight, Jr. and Helen Elkins Knight, both preceding her in death.

She is survived by her husband of thirty-nine (39) years, Shaw Vickers; a daughter Kelly (Maurice) Parramore; and a son, Casey Vickers, all of Whigham, GA.  Two grandchildren, Miller and Marley Kate Parramore will miss their CiCi deeply, as will her sister Beverly (Linda McCrae) Knight of Indianapolis, IN.  Also surviving are a brother, Julian (June) Knight of Whigham, GA; two sisters-in-law, Dee Worthington of Brinson, GA and Jill Earnest of Donalsonville, GA; one brother-in-law, Dennis Vickers, and her father-in-law, Bonial Vickers and the late Marlene Vickers of Whigham, GA; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

After graduating from Whigham High School in 1975, she attended Valdosta State College and received her Bachelor of Science – Nursing in 1979.

Professionally Mrs. Vickers was employed at Archbold Medical Center, Thomasville, GA, as the Administrator of Glenn-Mor Nursing Home from 2017 to present.  Prior to Archbold, she worked for 33 years at Memorial Hospital and Manor, Bainbridge, GA; from 1983-2016 serving as the Assistant Hospital Administrator, Director of Nursing, and Nursing Home Administrator. Her tireless work ethic and detail to nursing care excellence were unmatched.

Above everything else, Mrs. Vickers lived a beautiful life on the farm with a strong commitment to family, church and community.  She was an active member of Union Springs Baptist Church playing the piano and organ, and serving as Clerk, Treasurer and other leadership positions over the past forty years.  Her faith and Christianity remained steadfast and strong during her battle with BPDCN.

The consistent leadership and hard work she exemplified thru the years have been an inspiration to many and her gentle spirit, smile, and laughter will be missed often, but never forgotten.
