Larry Lee Varnes
December 27, 1952 – March 15, 2022

Funeral services for Larry Lee Varnes, 69, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 18, 2022, at First Assembly of God, Cairo, GA.  Pastor Travis Harrison will officiate.  Interment will be in Pine Level Baptist Church Cemetery, Cairo, GA.  Mr. Varnes passed away at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, GA, on Tuesday, March 15, 2022.

Active pallbearers will be Kendall Taylor, David Avery, Walter Jones, Mike Shiver, Jim Ward and David Varnes.

Mr. Varnes was born on December 27, 1952, in Port St. Joe, FL, to the late Cecil W. Varnes and Delores Wilson Varnes.  On Dec. 18, 1971, he married Barbara Johnson Varnes, who survives. Before his retirement, he was self-employed as a hydraulic pipe installer.  He attended First Assembly of God in Cairo.

Survivors include: his wife Barbara Varnes of Cairo, GA; daughters, Valerie Sumner (Chuck) of Thomasville, GA, Melissa Dawson (Lincoln) of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Luke Henry Dawson (his Best Buddy), Hannah Leigh Dawson (his Honey Bun), both of Cairo, GA; brothers, Ralph Varnes (Kathy), Bruce Varnes (Lois), both of Apalachicola, FL, Don Varnes (Cheryl) of Sumatra, FL; sisters, Katie Dearinger of Apalachicola, FL, Makie Moore of Eastpoint, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; and brothers, J. C. Varnes, Billy Varnes, Bobby Varnes.

The family will receive friends at First Assembly of God on Friday, March 18, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
