Annie Sanders Smith

Funeral services for Annie Elizabeth Sanders Smith, 87, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 26, 2022, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA.  Pastor Johnny H. Moore will officiate.  Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA.  Mrs. Smith passed away at Rose City Health and Rehabilitation Center in Thomasville, GA, on Tuesday, March 22, 2022.

Active pallbearers will be Garret Godwin, Brent Mode, Bruce Womble, Austin Asbell, Lawson Womble, Reed Rackley, Brian Simpson, and Bo Williams.

Mrs. Smith was born on July 2, 1934, in Moark, AR, to the late Clyde Sanders and Mary Crossen Sanders.  On October 25, 1954, in Salinas, CA, she married Leotis “Smitty” Smith, who preceded her in death on August 3, 2009.  Annie was a loving homemaker.  She was a member of Pine Level Baptist Church in Cairo.

Survivors include: daughters, Ruth Ann Longworth of Collinsville, TX, Mary Ann Torik of Atascadero, CA, Cheryl Smith of Cairo, GA, Barbara Godwin (Garret) of Cairo, GA; son, Larry Smith, Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Amy Womble (Bruce) of Cairo, GA, Tiffany Williams (Bo) of Cairo, GA, Brent Mode (Ashley) of Cairo, GA, Garret Godwin (Sydney) of Cairo, GA, Kristin Blough (Chris) of Cairo, GA, Diane Smith of Milton, FL, Tami Torik of Paso Robles, CA, Gary Torik of Templeton, CA, Donna Candall of Redding, CA, Barry Longworth of Happy Camp, CA, Lori Campbell of Visalia, CA, Nancy Dubois of Curlew, WA; 34 great-grandchildren; brother, Tommy Sanders of California; sisters, Nellie Hobbs, Pearl Ingram, both of California, Virginia Bohannor of Florida; her companion, Claude Coleman of Cairo, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; daughter-in-law, Dina Michelle Smith; sisters, Ruby Fleming, Pansy Sanders, Pauline McClary; and a sister-in-law, Lenore Sanders.
