Jane E. Broome
August 13, 1928 – March 13, 2022
Jane E. Broome, 93, died of natural cause March 13, 2022. She was born August 13, 1928, in Jackson, TN, daughter of James and Elsie Passon. Jane grew up in the depression era. Her father died when she was four years old. After graduating high school, she immediately found a job with AT&T as a telephone operator.
She married Malcom L. Broome on August 21, 1949. Malcom felt called into Christian ministry and spent approximately eight years in seminary studies at Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY. She was a devoted wife and mother, serving by her husband’s side during his tenure at several churches in Indiana, the longest was Southport Baptist in Indianapolis, and lastly the Vienna Baptist Church in Vienna, WV. During her time in Vienna, at age 55, she returned to school to become an LPN. They retired in 1989 and returned to Malcom’s hometown of Cairo, GA, only to have Malcom unexpectedly pass away a year later. She moved to Huntsville, AL in 1996 to live near one of her sons and his family.
Jane was very humble and self-sacrificing, always putting others before herself. She faced life’s ups and downs with unspoken grace. She was a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ and would encourage all to accept His gift of salvation.
She is survived her son, William M. Broome and wife, Charlotte, and their two daughters, Caroline and Marianne; and her son, Dr. Todd A. Broome and wife, Carri (Casey), and their children, Chris, Danielle, Megan and Meredith (Kenzie).
A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, April 2, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the Broome Family Cemetery in Cairo, GA.
