Bernard Douglas Cox

Funeral services for Bernard Douglas Cox, 78, of Cairo, GA, are at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA.  Rev. Chris Allen will officiate.  Services will conclude at the chapel.  Private interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Cairo, GA.  Mr. Cox passed away at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, GA, on Friday, June 17, 2022.

Mr. Cox was born on November 14, 1943, in Camilla, GA, to the late Carlton Cox and Maude Godwin Cox.  He married Linda Gayle Dilmore Cox, who survives.  He served his county in the United States Navy.  He retired as a technician from Florida Power and Light Company.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cairo.

Survivors include: his wife, Gayle Cox of Cairo, GA; son, Douglas “Buddy” Cox of Raleigh, NC; sister-in-law, Dayle Dilmore of Cairo, GA; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his siblings, brothers, Ellis E. Cox, M. Earl Cox, Turner Cox, Wallace H. Cox, J. C. Cox, Richard Cox; and sister, Verlon Weese.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home immediately following the funeral.
