Richard was born on March 8, 1961, in Jacksonville, FL, to Emma Jean Ferrell, and the family soon moved to Cairo. Richard graduated from Cairo High School, where he played football and baseball. On July 17, 1982, at Whigham Baptist Church, he married Paula Newberry, with whom he had two children: Trevor Lee Ferrell and Chelsea Camille Ferrell. Richard worked as a parts manager for Advance Auto Parts. When he wasn’t at work, he loved to spend time with his family, particularly in the mountains. He was an avid fisherman who preferred fly fishing on any mountain stream he could find. He enjoyed hiking in the mountains and playing golf with his wife, maintaining his lifelong love of the outdoors and sports. Family and friends appreciated Richard’s mastery in the kitchen and at the grill as he enriched every gathering with his skills. Richard enjoyed playing with his two golden retrievers, Rylee and Simba, and with all the children in the family. Every day was more fun with Richard.
