Carroll Chason Powell
June 3, 1930 – October 29, 2022

Graveside funeral services for Carroll Chason Powell, 92, of Cairo, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 2, 2022, in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA.  Rev. Chris Allen will officiate.  Mr. Powell passed away at his home on Saturday, October 29, 2022.

Mr. Powell was born on June 3, 1930, in Pelham, GA, to the late Charlie Edward Powell and Lydia Chason Powell.  He was a member of the Cairo High School Class of 1947 and later graduated from Georgia Southwestern College.  He served his country in the United States Air Force.  He retired from the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier.  He was a longtime, devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Cairo which he joined in 1945.  Carroll can best be described as a true Southern gentleman.

Survivors include: niece, Catherine Kain (John) of Muscle Shoals, AL; nephew, Charles Powell (Peggy) of Sunrise, FL; sister-in-law, Virginia Powell of Muscle Shoals, AL; great-niece, Morgan Kain of Muscle Shoals, AL; great-nephew, Harris Kain of Muscle Shoals, AL; longtime companion, Sofia McGuirt of Camilla, GA; Sofia’s daughter, Monica Enfinger, and grandchildren, Damon Goodman, Tristen Goodman, Christopher Goodman, Josie Noriega, and great-grandson, Nate Nickens; and a host of extended family and close friends.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his brother, Robert E. Powell; and a nephew, John Powell.
