Funeral services for Jimmy Carver, 76, of Cairo, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Hilltop Bible Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Ken Cloud and Rev. Glen Scoggin will officiate. Interment will be in Long Branch Church Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mr. Carver passed away at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, GA, on Friday, November 11, 2022.
Active pallbearers will be Russell Yates, Billy Willis, Cyrus Brinkley, Jay Bentley, Alvin Mitchell and Joe Williamson. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and their spouses.
Mr. Carver was born on July 16, 1946, in Douglas, GA, to the late Ones Richard Carver and Eunice Mckinnon Carver. On September 30, 1966, he married Mary Alice Patteson Carver, who survives. He retired as a shop foreman and truck driver with John Deere Tractor Company after 44 years of service. He worked with Grady Tractor, Jones Tractor, Greensouth Tractor and Ag Pro. Jimmy recently worked with Ray Glass Batteries Inc. in Thomasville. He was a member of Hilltop Bible Baptist Church in Cairo.
Survivors include: his wife, Mary Alice Carver of Cairo, GA; children, Tonya Wynn (Rocky) of Baconton, GA, Jim Carver (Lynn) of Blakely, GA; grandchildren, Rob Avery (Casey) of Calvary, GA, Ashley Salter (Kevin) of Cairo, GA, Hannah Davis (Tyler) of Camilla, GA, Caroline Ragan (Brady) Camilla, GA, Sara Wynn of Baconton, GA, Taylor Wynn of Cairo, GA, Kendyl Carver of Blakely, GA, Katie Massey (Teel) of Iron City, GA, Karsyn Gleaton (Tanner) of Iron City, GA, Kamryn Carver of Blakely, GA, all of Blakely, GA; great-grandchildren, Bentley, Bryden, Peyton, Avery, Asher, Wrenli, Carver, Louis, Dru, Lynnen and Miller; sister, Annie Benton (Gene), Cairo, GA and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; sisters, Mary McAllister, Viola Harvin, Sarah Williams, Nadine Davis and brothers, Melvin Carver, Pete Carver, Shorty Carver, Donald Carver.
The family will receive friends at Hilltop Bible Baptist Church on Monday, November 14, 2022, from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.
