James William “Sonny Boy” Dalton, Sr.
August 15, 1941 – May 4, 2023

Funeral services for James William “Sonny Boy” Dalton, Sr., 81, of Cairo, GA, are at 3:00 p.m., Monday, May 8, 2023, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA.  Rev. Rod Brinkley will officiate.  Interment will be in Piedmont Cemetery, Calvary, GA.  Mr. Dalton passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, May 4, 2023.

Active pallbearers will be Kyle Barber, Shawn McKinney, Bobby Varedore, Carl Eugene Harris, Jr., William Dalton and Alan Robert Varedore.

Mr. Dalton was born on August 15, 1941, in Havana, FL, to the late Henry Dalton and Ethel Walsh Dalton.  On December 18, 1968, he married Martha Ann Hall Dalton, who survives.  They were married for 54 years.   He was a self-employed carpenter and farmer.  He loved the outdoors and was well known for raising quail and other foul.  He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include: his wife, Martha Ann Dalton of Cairo, GA; children, Anna Heath of Cairo, GA, Cassie Dalton-Barber (Edward) of Tallahassee, FL, James Williams Dalton, Jr. (Melisa) of Coolidge, GA, Connie McKinney (Shawn) of Cairo, GA, Jeffrey Dalton of Cairo, GA, Amber Chastain (Ben) of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Kyle Barber (Rachael) of Tallahassee, FL, Kaylin Griffin (Robert) of Tallahassee, FL, Keith Barber of Tallahassee, FL, Kody Barber of Tallahassee, FL, Daniel Barber (Jennifer) of Havana, FL, Elizabeth Barber (Rodney) of Tallahassee, FL, James Dalton, III of Coolidge, GA, Stephanie Dalton of Coolidge, GA, Brandon Dalton of Coolidge, GA, Tyler Dalton (Chelsey) of Cairo, GA, Carl E. He was preceded in death by: his parents; daughter, Cheryle Ann Dalton-Chastain; grandson, James Blair Chastain; and sisters, Joyce Walsh, Francis Davis, Geneva Walsh; and a brother, Walter Dalton.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Monday, May 8, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
