Bernnie Lamar Smith
June 8, 1959 – June 29, 2023

Bernnie L. Smith, 64, of Cairo, GA, passed away at Grady General Hospital, Cairo, GA, on Thursday, June 29, 2023.  Services will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Thomasville, GA on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 1:00 p.m.

Mr. Smith was born on June 8, 1959, in Monticello, FL, to the late Edwin L. Smith and Vestula Batts Smith.  On September 28, 1985, he married Peggy Godbold Smith, who survives.  Bernnie received his technical degree in electronics from Thomas Technical School in 1981 and worked as an electronics technician.  His hobbies included drumming, music, gardening and spending time with his family.  He was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness faith in Thomasville, GA.

Survivors include: his wife of 37 years, Peggy G. Smith of Cairo, GA; son, Bradford Lee  Smith of Cairo, GA; daughter, Juanita C. Smith of Cairo, GA; niece, Kristie M. Polk of Cairo, GA; brothers, Raymond Smith of Sebring, FL, Marvin Smith of Whigham, GA; sisters, Levina K. Bergan of Cairo, GA, Teena Skipper of Whigham, GA and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; a sister, Sharon M. Polk and a brother, Johnny Smith.
