Billy Wayne Donaldson

Billy Wayne Donaldson, 89, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away at Southeast Health Medical Center in Dothan, AL, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, August 1, 2023.  No services are planned at this time.

Mr. Donaldson was born on April 3, 1934, in Cairo, GA, to the late Clarence Donaldson and Callie May Donaldson.  He served his country in the United States Army.  He was married to Marfa Strickland Donaldson, who preceded his in death on March 7, 2020.  They were married for over 65 years.  He worked in refrigeration and air conditioning for many years.  He later owned Bainbridge Heating and Air Conditioning. Billy loved his family, his home and his privacy. When he wasn’t fishing or hunting or tending to his land, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Billy was usually very quiet and contemplative but would get very excited and animated when he got to telling stories. He loved telling stories about his childhood and his time spent in Greenland.

Survivors include: son, Wayne Donaldson (Diane) of Ball Ground, GA; grandchildren, Heather Ferris (Pete) of Ball Ground, GA, Holley Makela (Taylor) of L’Anse, MI, Khelee Sawyer (Jake) of Ball Ground, GA; great-grandchildren, Hollynd Makela of L’Anse, MI, Ronin Makela of L’Anse, MI, Lilly Sawyer of Ball Ground, GA, Liam Ferris of Ball Ground, GA; and nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife; and brothers, Shelton Donaldson, Tommy Donaldson.
