Russell Bradley “R.B.” Gainous, Jr.

Funeral services for Russell Bradley “R.B.” Gainous, Jr., 80, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 8, 2023, at Faith Christian Center, Cairo, GA.  Services will  conclude at the church.  Rev. David Coleman, Sr., will officiate.  Private interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA.  Mr. Gainous passed away at Grady General Hospital in Cairo, GA, on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.

Mr. Gainous was born on February 23, 1943, in Cairo, GA, to the late Russell Gainous and Lula Mae VanBrunt Gainous.  On July 6, 1963, he married Meril Kay Shiver Gainous, who preceded him in death on August 8, 2016.  R.B. was a truck driver with the United Parcel Service Logistics Company until his retirement.  R. B. was a people person and loved to be around family and friends.  He loved golfing and fishing, but his grandchildren were the most important part of his life.  He was a member of the Faith Christian Center in Cairo.

Survivors include: his son, Trey Gainous and his wife, Linda of Madison, AL; his grandchildren, Michael Gainous, Julie Gainous, both of Madison, AL; sisters-in-law, Beth Hancock of Cairo, GA, Linda Bearden of Cairo, GA; brothers-in-law, Jerry Shiver (Nancy) of Tifton, GA, Ricky Shiver (Michelle) of Coral Springs, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife; and sisters, Marjorie Wiggins, Dorothy Dinkins.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
