Eugene Franklin Sheffield
December 18, 1934 – October 12, 2023

Funeral services for Eugene Franklin Sheffield, 88, of Cairo, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA.  Pastor DeWayne Atkinson will officiate.  Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.  Mr. Sheffield passed away at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, GA, on October 12, 2023.

Active pallbearers will be Mark Clark, William Clark, Ronald Jackson, Wayne Johnson, Zane Mirick and Andy Stewart.

Mr. Sheffield was born on December 18, 1934, in Cairo, GA, to the late Burney “Bud” A. Sheffield and Elma Barfield Sheffield.  On December 21, 1957, he married Nettie Jewel Bryant Sheffield, who survives.  They were married for 65 years.  He was the market manager for several major grocery stores before his retirement.  He was a member of the Cairo Church of God.

Survivors include: his wife, Nettie B. Sheffield of Cairo, GA; sister, Helen Mahaffey of Cairo, GA; brother, Ralph Sheffield (Sandy) of Gainesville, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Agnes Ruff and Clorine Sheffield.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home immediately following the funeral service at the funeral home.
