Elizabeth (Liz) L. Perkins, a beacon of love and generosity, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2023, in Jacksonville, FL, at the age of 74.  Born on December 29, 1948, in Chattanooga, TN, to Virginia and William Long, Liz’s life was a tapestry of devotion to her family, friends, and community.

Liz married the love of her life, Samuel (Larry) Perkins, and together they shared 56 years of unwavering partnership and joy.  They built a beautiful life together in Georgetown, FL, filled with laughter, adventure, and the shared happiness of watching their family grow.  Liz was a loving mother to Christiane Delores Dubose and her husband Ricky Lynn Dubose of Lakeland, FL, and Carlton Larry Perkins of St. Augustine, FL.  Her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother was one of her greatest joys, doting on Shawn R. Dubose, Tiffany M. Douberley, and her great-grandchildren Hayden and Matthew Dubose, Madison Eldridge, Landon and Kelsey Douberley.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will be cherished by her brother, Dennis Long of Georgia, and sister, Renae Kinsman of Edgewater, FL.  Liz’s parents, Virginia and William Long, predeceased her, but the values they instilled in her shone brightly throughout her life.

Professionally, Liz was the beloved Seafood Manager at a local grocery store, where her intelligence and work ethic were as evident as her capacity to care for her colleagues and customers.  Her involvement in associations related to her work demonstrated her commitment to her profession and the people she served.

Liz’s interests were as diverse as her skills.  A gifted artist, she found solace and expression in drawing. Travel was another passion—she loved exploring new places and embracing the thrill of discovery.  Liz also had a playful spirit; she enjoyed visiting amusement parks and engaging in games with her family, creating moments of joy and excitement that will be fondly remembered.

Liz’s love for animals was evident in her special bond with her dog, Toby, who was a constant source of companionship and joy.  Her home was a welcoming place, filled with the laughter of family and friends, and the occasional bark or tail wag from Toby.

Those who knew Liz would describe her as loving, intelligent, and generous.  Her ability to light up a room with her smile and warmth was unmatched.  She nurtured relationships with a kind and open heart, offering wisdom and comfort to those in need. Liz’s intelligence was not just in her ability to solve problems, but also in understanding the hearts of those around her.  Her generosity knew no bounds, whether it was her time, her talents, or her unconditional support.

As we bid farewell to Elizabeth (Liz) L. Perkins, we celebrate a life extraordinarily lived.  Her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have felt the embrace of her love and kindness.  Liz’s life was a journey of compassion and grace, and her memory will be treasured as a guiding light for generations to come.

The Perkins family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the community for the outpouring of love and support during this time.  Liz’s presence will be profoundly missed, but her legacy will forever be a part of the lives she touched.

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Elizabeth (Liz) L. Perkins was a remarkable woman who will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
