Linda Garland Stringer

Funeral services for Linda Garland Stringer, 81, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 5, 2024, at Pine Park Baptist Church, Pine Park, GA. Rev. Brandon Smith and Dr. David Benton will officiate. Interment will be in Pine Park Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Stringer passed away at Archbold Hospital, Thomasville, GA, on Friday, February 2, 2024.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Buffington, Bill Cox, Tim Hartley, Edsel Bone, Greg Willis, Arnold Pearson and Ray Ingram.
Mrs. Stringer was born on January 28, 1943, in Reno, GA, to the late Grier Deloy Garland and Aurelia Ferman Beagles Garland. She married Jarrett Fred “Pop” Stringer on June 24, 1961, and he preceded her in death on August 2, 2005. She retired from WCTV after 22 years of loyal service as Administrative Assistant to the Director of the Newsroom and was a devoted member of Pine Park Baptist Church.
Linda devoted her life to loving not only her family and friends but also loving the Lord and seeking his guidance. She found joy in serving the church by teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Missions and providing weekly floral arrangements for the church. She was also very active in the Grady County Historical Society and the Garden Club of Thomasville, GA.
Survivors include: daughters, Mellanie Stringer Benton (David) of Doerun, GA and Heidi Stringer Woods (David) of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Brook Coleman (Brandon) and Whit Benton (Anna) both of Doerun, GA, William Tyler Woods (Andi) of Orlando, FL, Jarrett Emory Woods of Cairo, GA and Olivia Lindsey Woods of Athens, GA; great-grandchildren, Hudson Paige, Benton Paige, Autrey Benton and Mack Benton, all of Doerun, GA; sisters, Terri Garland Johnson (Tommy) of Lake City, FL and Rhonda Garland Lee of Cairo, GA; nieces, Anna Johnson (Steve Hoesing) of Green Cove Springs, FL, Leah Maloney (Scott) of Rocheport, MO and Sheila Hutchens (Todd) of Statesboro, GA; nephews, Todd Johnson of Lake City, FL, John Stringer (Stacy) of Columbia, MO and Ronnie Stringer (Shelley) of Statesboro, GA; brother-in-law, Daniel E. Stringer (Betty) of Lexington, SC; sister-in-law, Lola Stringer of Columbia, MO.
She was preceded in death by: her husband; parents; and brothers-in-law, Alvin Lee and Dr. William C. Stringer.
