Sarah Lou Norton Long
August 8, 1946 – February 23, 2024

Funeral services for Sarah Lou Norton Long, 77, of Cairo, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 26, 2024, at Eastside Baptist Church, Cairo, GA.  Rev. David Harrell will officiate.  Interment will be in the Cairo Cemetery, Cairo, GA.  Mrs. Long passed away at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, GA, on Friday, February 23, 2024.

Active and honorary pallbearers will be Randy Griffin, Mike Griffin, Steve Cook, Jerry Harrell, Kevin Ingram, Andrew Ingram, Patrick Ouzts, Larry Brinkley, Dusty Norton, Chad Norton, Clay Norton, Casey Norton, Jimmy Long, and Robbie Bearden.

Mrs. Long was born on August 8, 1946, in Cairo, GA, to the late Lonzo L. Norton and Susan “Susie” Keene Norton.  On August 26, 1965, she married Robert Long, who survives.  She retired as an inspector with the Torrington Company.  She was a devoted member of Eastside Baptist Church.

Survivors include: her husband, Robert Long of Cairo, GA; son, John Long (Jill) of Cairo, GA;  grandchildren, Josh Cook (Alex) of Bristol, FL, Lauren Mobley Vega (Christian) of Tallahassee, FL, Leigh Mobley of Nashville, TN, Lydia Mobley Green (Cory) of Whigham, GA, Jae Long of Cairo, GA; great-grandchildren, Charlie Cook, Cooper Cook, Harley Vega; sisters, Carolyn Griffin of Cairo, GA, Faye Ingram (Lloyd) of Cairo, GA, Betty Bearden (Bubba) of Cairo, GA; brothers, Laverne Norton (Cathy) of Cairo, GA, Charlie Norton (Teresa) of Cairo, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; daughter, Peggy Cook; sister, Margaret Norton Ouzts; and brothers, Coy Norton, Z.E. Norton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mrs. Long’s memory to:  St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

The family will receive friends at Eastside Baptist Church on Monday, February 26, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
