Wilma Martin Maxwell
September 23, 1940 – February 29, 2024

Funeral services for Wilma Martin Maxwell, 83, of Cairo, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Pine Level Baptist Church, Cairo, GA.  Rev. Jim Weaver will officiate.  Interment will be in the Bond Maxwell Cemetery, Cairo, GA.  Mrs. Maxwell passed away at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, GA, on Thursday, February 29, 2024.

Active pallbearers will be Charles Dalton, Richard Jordan, Gene Lewis, James Carver, Lyndon Bruckerhoff and Neal Harrison.

Mrs. Maxwell was born on September 23, 1940, in Stuart, FL, to the late William Martin and Jean Peck Martin.  On August 4, 1963, she married Gordon Lamar Maxwell, who preceded her in death on June 6, 1983.  She was a devoted homemaker and a member of Pine Level Baptist Church.

Survivors include: her daughter, Joann Carver (Troy) of Cairo, GA, stepson, Rodney Lamar Maxwell of Florida; sisters, Rose Martin, Alma Martin, Grace Martin, Doris Martin, all of Florida, Helen Tulin (Tom) of South Carolina, Alice Tyler (Freddie) of Florida; brother, Robert Martin of Florida; sisters-in-law, Gloria Hobby (Jesse) of Cairo, GA, Patsy Maxwell of Thomasville, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.  She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Michelle Maxwell Valencia of Atlanta, GA.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; son, Wesley Gordon Maxwell; brothers, Carl Martin, Herby Martin; and a sister, Jane Martin.

The family will receive friends at Pine Level Baptist Church on Sunday, March 3, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
