Carolyn Faye Smith Fincher
January 30, 1946 – May 24, 2024

Funeral services for Carolyn Faye Smith Fincher, 78, of Cairo, GA, are at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at First Baptist Church, Cairo, GA.  Rev. Chris Allen will officiate.  Private interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.  Mrs. Fincher passed away at her home, Cairo, GA, on Friday, May 24, 2024.

Active pallbearers will be Richard Hall, Johnny Tuggle, Mark Starr, Ken Hicks, Randy Holton, Roy Jones, Layne Davis and Wayne Everson.

Mrs. Fincher was born on January 30, 1946, in Cairo, GA, to the late Alvin Monroe Smith and the late Cornelia Idell Stone.  She married John Wayne Fincher, who survives, on January 15, 1972, and they recently celebrated 52 years of marriage.

Mrs. Fincher graduated from Cairo High School in 1964 and then graduated from Crawford W. Long Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1968. After working at Archbold Hospital in Thomasville, GA, she pursued a Bachelor of Nursing Degree from Valdosta State University and later retired from the Grady County Health Department as the County Nurse Manager.  She was a member of First Baptist Church.

After retirement, Mrs. Fincher enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, John Wayne Fincher of Cairo, GA; son, Michael Wayne Fincher (Genevieve) of Brockville, Ontario; daughter, Angela Everson (Michael) of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Lauren Faye West of Columbus, GA, Georgia Fincher and Liam Fincher, both of Brockville, Ontario; sister, Patsy Davis of Cairo, GA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, William Stewart Fincher.

Memorials may be made in Mrs. Fincher’s memory to:  The Alzheimer’s Foundation.

The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church on Tuesday May 28, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
