Funeral services for Charles Henry Womble, 88, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 27, 2024, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Dr. Bob Knight will officiate. Services will conclude at the chapel. Private interment will be in Trinity Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Mr. Womble passed away at Legacy Village at Plantation Manor in Thomasville, GA, on Sunday, June 23, 2024.
Active pallbearers will be Allan Womble, Daniel Womble, Alex Flowers, Brandon “Ace” Womble, Keith Taylor and Carl Burks. Honorary pallbearers will be Spencer Barrett and John Johnson.
Mr. Womble was born on April 15, 1936, in Cairo, GA, to the late Allen Floyd Womble and Irene Cooper Womble. On March 23, 1957, he married Jessie Burks Womble, who preceded him in death on January 10, 2019. He was a mechanic with United Parcel Service, Inc. until his retirement.
Survivors include: daughter, Charlotte Womble Salter (Kenneth) of Cairo, GA; son, Charles Wayne Womble (Theresa) of Crawfordville, FL; grandchildren, Allan Wayne Womble of Cairo, GA, Daniel Womble of Cairo, GA, Mallory Flowers Barrett (Spencer) of Cairo, GA, Mandy Flowers of Thomasville, GA, Alex Flowers of Cairo, GA; great-grandchildren, Brandon “Ace” Womble of Cairo, GA, Marleigh Womble of Cairo, GA, Keith Taylor of Cairo, GA; sister, Dorothy Womble Pollock of Atlanta, GA; brother, Floyd Womble of Cairo, GA.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Allan Floyd and Irene Womble; his wife, Jessie Womble; his granddaughter, Katie Ellen Salter; and a sister, Barbara Womble Wall.
