William Alvin Mitchell

Funeral services for William Alvin Mitchell, 86, of Cairo, GA, are at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Hilltop Bible Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Leonard Daughtry and Rev. Kenneth Cloud will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in Springhill Christian Church Cemetery, Ochlocknee, GA. Mr. Mitchell passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.
Active pallbearers will be Joe Sheffield, Jim Sheffield, Johnny Whigham, Adam Sheffield, Richard Whittington and Mitch Sheffield. Honorary pallbearers will be Terrence Collins, Jay Bentley, Russell Yates, Billy Willis, Patrick Ouzts, Joel Bass, Rocky Wynn and Chris Cooper.
Mr. Mitchell was born on January 18, 1938, in Cairo, GA to Joseph Paramore Mitchell and Alice Daisy Waters Mitchell. He served his country in the United States Army. On August 4, 1961, he married Faye Pearce Mitchell, who survives. They were married for over 63 years. He worked as a farmer, logger and later as a driver with Cole Prince Farming. He was a devoted member of Hilltop Bible Baptist Church in Cairo.
Survivors include: his loving wife, Faye Mitchell of Cairo, GA; son, Randy Mitchell (Jean) of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Ericca Mitchell of Cairo, GA, Whitney Glenn (Lawrence) of Hinsonton, GA, Meredith Mitchell of Cairo, GA, Marc Logue (Kasey) of Pelham, GA; great-grandchildren, Brayden Glenn of Hinsonton, GA, Elisabeth McKown of Cairo, GA, Nahla Glenn of Hinsonton, GA, Jackson McKown of Cairo, GA, Rence Glenn of Hinsonton, GA, Makaya Logue of Pelham, GA, Kaden Logue of Pelham, GA, DeLaney Logue of Pelham, GA; sister, Jean Sheffield of Indianapolis, IN; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; sons, Andy Mitchell, Michael Reese “Mike” Mitchell; and a sister, Christine Maxwell.
Memorials may be made in Mr. Mitchell’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Friday, August 16, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
